    Can anyone tell me

    1. What is the best approach to migrating the S3 application from Solaris to Linux?

    2. Can we have the database running on a different platform to the application? At present everything runs on Solaris, we're thinking of  migrating the database to Linux first ( and we have the skills to do the database migration so don' t worry about that). Then at a later stage we'd migrate the application to Linux.

    3. Would it be better/easier to migrate the database and the application at the same time?

Thanks in advance for any help the Forum users can provide.

Depends where your database is now....All Lawson Unix Versions will talk to Oracle Backends, so you could move Solaris to Linux without changing your database, and them move that later, or, conversely you could move the DB to Linux now then move your Environment and apps later.....Either way will give you a "staged" approach rather then a scary Big Bang.
