8.0 to 9.0-Differences for payroll

Started By  spatterson
We are getting ready to our upgrade and I didn't know if anyone had a document showing the differences for Payroll. When I was at CUE 08 this year a Lawson employee told me that he had such a document and would send it to me but I have tried twice to get a hold of him and I have had no luck...so I was hoping someone else has already gone through the upgrade and could give some direction as to what things have changed. I have searched online and cannot find anything. Any help would be greatly ap...

Reroute a noncash pay code from HR00

Started By  DCH.ROD
We are a multiple company payor. Each payroll we pay out GTL. I have GTL setup as a noncash paycode. I have nothing defined on PR20.4 for wage expense so it is correctly expensing the amounts to the appropriate company and cost center. Because it is a noncash paycode it follows the 'Non Cash' credit account defined on HR00. I know I can override where the credit posts to on the PR20.4 but we currently don't have a generic account that could facilitate this across all companies...is there ano...

ESS Employee Help Documents

Started By  Shane Jones
Hello all.... We are looking to create a library of help documentation for employees on how to use ESS/MSS.   I have created some documentation but started thinking that someone might be willing to share their documents so that I do not need to recreate the wheel.   I would also love to hear how you roll this out for new associates. Currently, I am planning to have the help documents available through the portal as bookmarks but I am wondering how others handle this Thanks Shane

PA113 - Retroactive History

Started By  jph826
We are at App V 8.1 and do not have a clear understanding of the PA113 and thus oops - have left it alone for years.  Could someone possibly help me understand [1] why one would choose to move retroactive changes/actions to history in the first place, [2] if they are moved to history, does that mean they action/change will not be processed by the system until the PA113 is run in update mode, [3] if you change your history default from create pending records to move to history error - what does t...

Rotating Work Schedules

Started By  mcl
Our Fire Department has its employees coded into three groups (A, B, C).  Each biweekly pay period the 'standard' hours and overtime hours for each group changes.  An employee will work standard 96 with 8 OT one pay period and will rotate to a 104, no OT the next ( I am making up the actual numbers since I do not remember the details). Our current system automatically changes the definition of A, B and C to handle this rotating work schedule.  Each employee keeps the same work schedule code, bu...

Editing the LP03.3 during payroll

Started By  Deleted User
Lawson 9.0.0 system/NT Hello everyone.  I have what may seem like a stupid question, but here goes. We are testing new patches on our test server, and running a full payroll for the company to validate the data.  We just realized that the (post PR140 and LP 140) LP03.3 settings are set to not show the accrual balances on the PMTOUT.  Would anyone be able to tell me if this could possiby cause any issues   thanks in advance!

Time Entry - Application Program Interface (API)

Started By  Chandra
Like anybody else, we are  a shop with various applications and technologies. Some of our service departments have a different time accounting application to account for the time spent on incidents / problem tickets/ projects. We also have Lawson time entry where time is entered logging into the portal for payroll purposes. Employees having to enter times in several places and verifying /consolidating it to match it all places is becoming critical and taking considerable amount of time. We are ...

change of field numbers for MS Addins and .uwf files

Started By  Phil Simon
Hello I'll probably have to open a case with Lawson but I'm hoping that there's a solution to this. On 8.0.3, we have quite a few upload files (UWFs) that are obviously linked to field numbers. These field numbers, however, have changed aross the board on 9 and Excel isn't liking the 'old' file definitions in the new TEST 9 product line.  Aside from rewriting all of these from scratch, is there anything that can be done to get 9 to recognize 8.0.3 UWFs Thanks. ps

Life Insurance - Individual Policies

Started By  donnaM
We offer company-paid Life insurance for all of our partners.  It is not a group policy.  Each partner has an individual policy, separately underwritten, with different premiums.  We currently do not track the premiums in Lawson - only the coverage amounts, because we have not found an efficient method for handling. Lawson suggested setting up separate PR05's for each partner.  However, this is not an option for us, because we track Partner Benefits in Company 1, but not Partner earnings (for c...

Convert Frequency of HR/PR from Weekly to Bi-Weekly

What I'm looking for is documentation, whether it's authored by Lawson or by an end-user, which addresses the topic of converting an existing Lawson payroll using the Human Resources and Payroll applications from a weekly to a bi-weekly frequency. Does anyone out there in the Lawson community have real world experience with this type of conversion

Is it possible to use Lawson HR (S3) for contractors?

Started By  Fariba
I have heard that Lawson S3 does not have the capability of managing contractors and they have to be managed through a different system. I don't think this is the best practice as contractors may become employees and also may deal with our customers and their information are required in the system. Does anyone have any info on this area Thanks, Fariba

Connecticut Withholding Status in Lawson (PR13)‏

Started By  BrendaH
Here's the issue:  (FYI, we just went live last week.)   Connecticut marital statuses are alpha codes (A-F; see attached CT-W4 form).  Lawson has a crosswalk of the equivalent numeric marital status to be used on PR13 (see KB article 548913)  This is causing much confusion when, for example, the employee is single but because the Connecticut alpha value of D (no matter what category they fall into) is mapped in Lawson to 4 which is married.  I'm trying to see if anyone else has run into this i...

Applicant Tracking Software Question

Started By  Deleted User
We are getting ready to retire our home grown applicant tracking software and are currently researching other software.  We have some RFIs out to various vendors. I would like to know what others in health care are using, how long you have been using it and whether or not you like the software.  Advantages vs. disavantages, pricing, maintenance, support, and any other comments are welcome and would be helpful. Thanks so much. Cindy Hudson cindy.hudsoncentrahealth.com

First Responder (Police/Fire/EMT) Pay

Started By  cdevoe
Looking for ideas to set up/process First Responder 'augment' pay. FLSA requires any added pay (other than bonus/gifts) be included in hourly rate for calculating overtime. Examples, certificate pay, level of education pay, interpreter pay, etc.  Most public sector orgs use step&grade, so can't override Rate on HR11. If org uses automated timekeeping system (Kronos, etc.) could store the extra pays there and send over a calculated rate (Rate all augments) with time record on PR530.  Where orga...
