Article Series on Design Studio, Part 1: What Is It?

It’s time to kick off another LawsonGuru Letter article series. Last time we did this, it was a series on reporting—which ended up being comprised of over a dozen articles. This time, we’re going to take an in-depth look at Lawson Design Studio. The length of this series is still open-ended, and I’ll continue to add to it as time (and reader feedback, of course!) permits.

In the first couple of articles, the primary objective is to lay the groundwork. We will explore Lawson Design Studio: What it is, what you can do with it, where it fits and when you should use (and more importantly, should not use) it.

      • LeoRed Hello Red, Some time ago you shared with me your item add and change policy. I have since moved to a different company and of course out of all things I could really use, I didnt save and bring with me. Would you be kind enough to send them to me again??? cleonardis@phoenixchildrens.com Thanks

        • DoloWalt A The BuildYesNoSelect is used to popultate several fields. If you want to add a third value, i would recommend cloning and making your own BuildYesNoMaybeSelect adding the third value. When it is time to save, PA42 is called - you would also need to be sure the value is coded as valid on the chosen field there also.

          • Gary PadgettWalt A Not positive, but possibly what is happening is that this form is tied to a Lawson form (maybe PA something or other). If so, then the .scr (screen definition file) might have to be updated as well. But if you do that, then you would have the third option everywhere this form is used. Do you have a thread for this in one of the forums?

                    • JWadeRob Rob do you know how to correctly set the perl path for ED00 on windows box. Seems it does not like the \ or the / in path. We set it and run ED501 and it removes the slashes from ED00.1

Another Update on Alleged Patent Infringement

Back in 2011, Lawson responded to an Alleged Patent Infringement by replacing Requisition Self-Service (RSS) with Requisition Center (RQC). In the meantime, Lawson has been acquired by Infor, but the patent case still lingers. Here’s an update. Some of you might have received this notice from Infor, and are unsure how this might impact your […]

The Untimely Passing of a Legend

We learned today that our dear friend, Matthew Allbee, passed away over the weekend after a long battle with cancer. Time To Rename LawsonGuru ?

With Lawson S3 and M3 customers adopting integrated Infor products, is it time to expand and rename the LawsonGuru Letter and LawsonGuru.com? I thought it would be fun to ask the community for advice. Here are some ideas:Filed under: Infor, Infor Acquisition

                      Inforum 2013

I just returned from Orlando, having attended Inforum 2013. Last year’s Inforum, which quickly followed the acquisition of Lawson by Infor, was really just a combination of Lawson’s annual conference (CUE) with Infor’s name and logo slapped on for good measure. This year was quite a different story. Starting with the fact that I was actually […]
