    I tried to enter some data in user fields 1thru 5 on PO10.1 (PO Vendor). We are on 9.0.0.4.215.

    Field info for user field 1 is:

    UFV-USR-FLD-01 | Id=_f84 | Type=text | Edit=upper | Size=20 | Name=TF0-5 | Parent=TF0-5

    When I try to put characters or numbers in the field and change it gives me the following message (This field needs to be spaces)

    What are these fields used for and how can I get text saved in those fields?

      You need to define your User Fields on PO01 as either Alpha, Numeric, etc. before you can use them.

        No joy. In PO01 main User Fields (PO 01.3) the only user fields listed are Req Header, Req Line, PO Header, and PO Line.

        I changed them all to Alpha, changed, changed and went back into PO10 and tried to add text and got the same message. I even logged off and back on and still got the same message. I inquired on the User Fields and they all showed Alpha.

        Is there a switch somewhere else that needs to be turned on or set?

            It worked. I changed the settings to Alpha, did an MS-Addin upload, and the text showed up in the fields.

            We did a quickstep setup and we are find out that some things were not covered.

            Thanks for your help David.

              You might also need to use this command after you change PO00:
              $ tmcontrol -rp prodline po10
              This will force PO10 to reload in memory. Replace "prodline" with actual product line, e.g., PROD
