Yes, 2016 1099's had very few modifications. But several years back, it seemed like there was a lot of changes. It could have been because we don't take patches consistently due to the many mods in AP155, BUT when we downloaded the YE AP patch there were even file changes to AP Vendor, etc. Might have had something to do with Tax ID.

Regardless, if that happens next year, you might have surmisable risk. Only mentioning it because we are doing our due diligence weighing the pros and cons of being off support.

Thanks... it looks like all we are printing out for 1099's is the vendor info and just one dollar amount so I am hoping that if worst comes to worst we would be able to have MHC (Doc Express) customize a routine for us to put the 1099 dollar amount in the right place. Fortunately we aren't doing complicated things with 1099's.

In our situation we went through all manner of tweaks to minimize our support charges with Infor as we are moving away from it. I am certain there is no desire or intention to spend at least a couple hundred thousand dollars to upgrade a system just before we more or less mothball it. Since we can't get extended support for 9.0.1 after mid-year our choice is find a way to print the 1099's even if we have to hire a consultant, or spend a fortune moving to a whole new system, user interface, security etc. for basically a few months' use and that's not likely to fly here.

Agreed. We are considering other vendors as well.

In regard to MHC, we have considered engaging them; heard lots of good things. Plus they have other modules like ACH and Positive Pay. How long did it take to onboard their software, beginning to end?
We have about 90 separate companies and most use their own bank, so a check template is needed for each for each of the banks addresses on the check. Thanks for any advice.

I wouldn't think you would have any trouble printing 1099's as long as nothing changes for MHC and there are not changes to the 1099 form from the IRS. We use MHC and have only one company. It did take them a while to get our check format done, but part of that was us taking a while to decide how we wanted it. Their support has been very good and the software works quite well.

We have been using MHC / Document Express since we went onto Lawson over a dozen years ago. In my experience their support has always been excellent. For example, we started paying most vendors by ACH payments and found that some of our vendors needed to be using an alternate address on the documents. (I'm not sure why that hadn't been an issue before.) ACH created an import routine for us that uses ODBC to pull that other address from Lawson as each document is imported into Document Express. I have yet to work with anyone there who was less than friendly, helpful, and responsive. Based on my experience I would recommend them without hesitation.

Our organization has changed banks a few times for various reasons and other than at our first go-live on Doc Exp long ago, I have made the changes to the checks myself. Last year I had to start from scratch and create a couple of checks for two brand new banks and while it was a little tedious, it's something you can do yourself though I'm sure for a price MHC can do it a whole lot faster if you need 80 of them done at once. Perhaps with practice I could have done it a lot quicker than the first two checks I created but each was sent to the respective bank to verify that it could be read and deposited electronically and they were both fine.

Re the 1099's, I am sure Doc Express would issue an updated template to reflect any changes to the 1099 form - they do that every year. Incidentally, before we moved our HR and payroll to a corporate system, I printed the W2's every year for quite some time, as well as the 1099's, and every year the Doc Express updates came with excellent instructions and there were no issues getting the new templates in place and the docs printed. If I had any questions or problems they were excellent about helping me.

We use MHC but not for 1099's. Printing 1099's we have been using FLEXform which has worked well as we do smaller runs under 1000 forms. Every now and then you may need to tweak the alignment initially to get the characters printing inside a box and not on a line but overall it's not bad.
