I am new to Lawson and needs a simple question answered about Lawson Interface/Insight desktop (LID) terminal window. I am posting it here as I cannot seem to find a better place for this question.

I got the need to connect to multiple Lawson servers from LID terminal and am tired of typing it in every single time or cutting and pasting host name. When the "phone receiver" icon is pressed from LID terminal to connect to a host, I get the dialog shown below. I just need to understand how to configure it show multiple hosts in that dialog to select from in stead of me typing it in every time.

    Any help is appreciated.

Few more details about my question:
I am running Lawson Interface Desktop (200811) 9.0.1.3 on my PC and connect to UNIX based Lawson servers.

This tip is an “oldie-but-a-goodie”! If you’re running Lawson on UNIX servers, and using the LID Desktop
Client (just for administration, of course—you’re using Portal for applications, right???), create a drop-down selection list. That way, you don’t have to keep typing in the server name or address.  This is especially handy whether you connect to one server or if you have multiple servers:

Create a folder, called NFS, in the same folder location as Lawson (LID), and create a text file, called “hosts” (no extension!):

In the hosts file, enter one line for each server, with the IP address on the left and corresponding server name or address, if no name, on the right:

Thanks for using the LawsonGuru.com forums!

          Hi John,

I really appreciate your response. All I got is LID installed on my desktop for Administrative purposes and NOT the complete Lawson Software. Hence, I do not have the Lawson directory itself, but just the "Lawson Software" under the "\Program Files (x86)" and LID as below.

          "\Program Files (x86)\Lawson Software\Lawson Interface Desktop"

I tried copying NFS directory with "hosts" file to all these three directories in the path above and it does not seem to work for me. I do not see a single entry in my drop-down. Is there any change due to the software verson that I have LID 9.0.1.3 from 2008.

          Regards,
          Saran

Thanks John - I set this up and it works great!
FYI to anyone trying, it took me a few. The NFS folder has to be at the root of the drive (C: or D the same place that Program Files and Program Files (x86) are located.

Thank you all for your help.

It works like a charm from the root at C:\NFS.

Thanks, this has been a pain since we last upgraded - this fixed me as well.
