How does everyone handle changes to direct deposit through ESS?
Does everyone allow new accounts to be added, or only changes to existing accounts? Out Payroll manager is asking if we can limit the changes to just that, changes only. For some reason she would prefer that new account adds continue to go through her department.
Does anyone else do this? Thanks for your feedback!

We have it wide open... However, since we are in the Financial industry it might be a little easier for us to manage. I think our payroll department really likes that associates can manage this on thier own. Ask your payroll manager if an email of changes/additions would be helpful. You could create a simple processflow to pull a range of date stamps and email it each week with the changes/additions that were made. (This would be a rather simple flow that would keep her involved and informed.)

...and we go just the opposite. Our ESS is only available to employees at the corporate office (~3500 employees), so we've changed the screen to display the employee's DD account info only. No add or update is allowed directly within ESS. We've added a link on the ESS DD page to our corporate payroll site (non-Lawson) where all the forms are maintained, along with some instructions.

In our case, we fully utilize ESS Direct Deposit. Changes or addition needs to be done by the employee. Minor issue is that the only way for Payroll to know if any changes were made is the EMAIL pop up after the Update. Unfortunately, it does not automatically send it. It opens Outlook and rely on the employee to hit Send. Some employee does not and just close it. Thus, no email is sent. Also, ESS inserts/updates to table EMACHDEPST and this table does not have a timestamp, so no straight forward query can be made if I am to inform Payroll if there are changes (assuming the email was not sent).
What did you do to overcome this? I am looking at creating a perl email script and customize this part of ESS so that and email is sent automatically. Or create another table and add a trigger to EMACHDEPST. This new table will have a timestamp.
Or is there another table PR12 Distribution Order is using to know there was a change?
Any comment is appreciated,
Thanks,
Jude

We have opened up the direct deposit to our employees/managers with add, change, and delete capability. To get around the email issue, we went also went to the table. We ended up copying the table at a certain point in the day (5:00 am) and then we report any differences from the original table 24 hours later to our Payroll department. I am now having an issue with security compliance with our HR staff. Our employees/managers do not have a search box on Portal and are tied to a SelfServ laua security group. On Portal we have a search box for anyone in HR to allow them to navigate to employee records. Direct deposit needs the add, change, and delete function codes on the PR12 form; combined with the search box on the Portal...this leaves a hole in the security by allowing certain employees in HR to make changes to a form that they should not be able to. How do others handle this? Two Lan-ids?
