We are in the process of converting from a third-party enrollment application to using the Lawson ESS enrollment. Currently, on the other application, employees are asked a series of questions that they have to answer "no" to; in order to be considered eligible to enroll in an HSA plan. We have setup our HSA plan (employer and employee plan options) but thinking we are going to have to go a custom route for collecting these answers to these questions?
How have other sites handled this process in order to determine employee is eligible for enrolling in an HSA plan?
Thanks
Karen

You could add a link to ESS to go to your forms. We've done quite a bit of that here... although it is getting a bit more difficult than the older versions of Portal/ESS/MSS.
You'd have to develop these web forms yourself though.

If you use Design Studio, you could pass a form with the questions and based on the responses push the users to the enrollment form or to a dialog box about eligiblity.
It would take some work effort but we've do something similar in past OE cycles.

We did something similar a couple of years ago. What we did was create some custom web pages that would be displayed before the actual Lawson benefits enrollment pages that walked the employees through a questionnaire. At the conclusion of the questionaire, we used AGS calls to update user field values, that in turned placed the employees into the appropriate employee groups used to determine benefit elibility. After the questionnaire was completed, the regular ESS enrollment screens were displayed.

What are the data items?
Primarily what I've seen is that user groups can be setup to make and employee eligible or not (except for the medical plan).
Then I've created customizations to the ESS enrollment screen that will either display the HSA option or not depending on the medical plan chosen. This takes a bit of effort at first but by creating an array of "compatible" plans it has worked well for multiple clients.
Let me know if you need more information.
Thanks,
David

David, I would be interested in some guidance on how you customized ESS regarding the HSA. We are in the process of looking at implementing such a solution - based on certain medical plans the HSA and a limited flex plan would be available to select or not.
Thanks!
