New Hires/Rehires come over from our recruiting system and then processed via a process flow.  On occasion (probably too many...) we have employees who change their new hire dates.  They are normally pushed out at least two weeks.  Currently, we simply change the hire dates via one of the hire actions we use.  But for reporting purposes I am not sure about the process we are using and whether or not it is the best way to handle it.

    1.  When you have a new hire change hire dates, what steps do you take to fix the dates?
    2.  Do you move the employee to a non-payable status (such as a prehire state or a term - never worked state)?

    Thanks for your input!

We put our new hires into a "NH" (prehire status) and they do not get activated until the day prior to their start date (using process flow)

If their start date changes, we have a pre-hire start date action that is specifically for changing the start date.

If the new hire is made active and does not show for their first day, we put them into a "ZZ" status that is like a term status but is specifically for people who never really started.

If they are a no show for their first day (orientation usually) our orientation coordinator enters the "no show" action and a workflow sends a notice to the recruiter and manager, if there was a reason the new hire did not show the recruiter has the choice to change their start date in the flow and the person is put back into "NH" status with a new start date.

Dave - thanks for the feedback. It sounds like your process is very similar to what I would like to propose we start doing rather than just changing dates and leaving them in the hire status.
