We are in the process of planning our implementation of Absence Management and would like to know how much consulting assistance was needed for it.  Did anyone setup LP without assistance?  Any advise will be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks,
    Cindy

      Cindy,

We implemented with the assistance of a consultant, and I'm certainly glad we did - she wrote the LP handbook when it first came out and gave many LP presentations at CUE way back when. We also implemented when very few Lawson customers were doing so (2007) so we didn't have a lot of other resources to guide. That being said, 5 years later there are more resources to get answers.

Things to think about: how many plans do you currently have? Are you thinking about doing any plan consolidation at the same time? there are additional features of LP that you would not have had in TA (if you were using it), so you need to read up to see what's different to make an educated choice for the consulting.

If you are interested in a consultant, the one we used is now independent, but I can give you her name. She's been helping us with the FMLA set up most recently.

        Hi Yvonne,

We do use the TA module and our plans are very straight forward.  I did read about the additional functionality with LP and we are excited about the new features.  Did you first convert your existing plans then later implemented new functionality or did you set them up from the beginning?

Please send me the name of the consultant that assisted you.

        Thanks for the advise!

We did everything at one fell swoop. We combined some plans, made some of our plans better to manage (what?) with automation.

One word of advice.... learn everything you can about how the dates work. TA didn't have very many dates to concern yourself with. LP has a lot of them, and we've learned, sometimes the hard way, the way they can impact a person's accruals and usage.

I'll send you the consultant's name in a private message.

            Cindy,

I just tried to email you from here, but I'm not certain it went through. If not, send me your email and I'll email the consultant's info to you.
