PR00 Asterisk disappearing

We run 2 PR140 jobs with the process level option for independent process levels.  We run 1 PR140 job for our dependent process levels using processing group.  We can verify that the PR160 jobs for both independent process levels completed successfully.  During the last 2 payrolls, when we check PR00 for the independent process levels PR140 and PR160 show all asterisks.  When we are ready to run PR197 for one of the independent process levels the next day, the PR160 asterisk disappears.  We are not manually changing the PR00 table.  

One post on Lawson community suggested a time record had been "touched" for the process level without the asterisk.  If I change was made to the time record, I would expect PR160 to show E for error status not blank.

We are rerunning the complete payroll process to establish the asterisk in PR00 so we can run PR197 to close the payroll.

Any ideas on why the asterisk would be disappearing?
