Upgrade testing plans

    We are getting ready for an environment upgrade and I am currious what other companies do for testing for both environment and apps upgrades. Do you use the same testing plan for both?

      Is your environment upgrade separate from the apps or all together?

      Some of the things you have to anticipate with testing include a new lawsec.jar file. That controls your security so you may want to touch the majority of processes so things in DS, RSS, ESS, etc are not impacted.

      We have over the last couple of year upgraded LSF9 then LS Security (DSSO) and lastly we actually went LSF 9.01, Apps 9.01, 64-Bit O/S. So I will be glad to share any lessons learned or answer questions you might have.

        Hello,

        Our current Lawson environment is as follows:

         

        Portal =9.0.0.7.337

        Foundation = 9.0.0.7.511

        Application = 8.1 MSP6

         We are on windows 2003 and SQL 2000.

         I just joined the company as  SQL DBA and we are discussing the Lawson upgrade , however I don’t have any prior Lawson experience .

         Can someone help point me to a good free resource to get up to speed , I greatly appreciate that.

         What  is a good  hardware configuration for the application  server and the database server ?

         We are looking to upgrade to a fairly recent version  of Lawson and SQL 2008 R2 64 Bit& Win 2K8 R2 64 Bit

         I would appreciate any help you can provide.
