We are talking about setting up a plan which is only avalaible if the employee enrolled in a specific health plan. We've been told that stock ESS wouldn't be able to handle preventing the employee from seeing the plan, since normal avaliablity is based on groups, which wouldn't be updated till after enrollment was finished.
How much of a headache are we looking at if we wanted to do a customization for this in ESS? Naivity would lead me to think it would be a relatively simple thing.

We use design studio to customize the enrollment screens that are seen, these custom forms along with standard ESS forms have links to the next step in the process (other forms) based on your selections. It sounds like that is the way you are headed. We have had a couple things similar in the past few years like if your a smoker, it takes you through to smoking cessation info or if you are modified full time (no benefits but extra pay) it takes you another path from standard enrollment.
I would look to map out what forms you start with and where you go when you make a choice or click next. Once you have that design the coding/testing of custom forms will take some time. The lesson learned here is regression test every scenario you can think of because the users will find a way to make choices you wouldn't even think of.
If you need more specifics let me know.

Thanks Mark!
That was the feeling I got from looking at things but am still new enough to everything 'Lawson' that I wanted to make sure I was neither overly naive in my assumption the level of work it'd take or overlooking a simple solution.
I suspect given the situation they'll probably decide they want to do 'Plan B' this year. I'm hoping I can get my feet wet enough to tackle 'Plan A' in the next year.
