We're looking for reliable and cost-effective application/database/server monitoring software. ManageEngine's AppManager 6 and ServerVantage look like the best tools, as far as covering all of the areas needed.
What monitoring software packages are you using? Would you recommend it or do you wish for something else?
Thanks!

You should also look at Big Brother, from Quest:
http://www.quest.com/bigbrother/.
There's a free version as well:
http://www.bb4.org/.
It does basic monitoring for availability, etc. w/ paging/email when things go down. Dave Schronce put together some scripts to integrate Lawson monitoring (see
http://www.schronce.net/lawson/bb-lwsn.sh.txt).
I like ManageEngine's database and Tomcat monitoring, as well as the quick at-a-glance 30-day availabililty graphs, etc. And, for a small shop (I think < 5 servers), you can use it for free.
Also, Lawson has some add-ons for the BMC-Patrol products (
http://www.bmc.com/produc..._23191_7266,00.html)
to monitor the Lawson side of things.
Finally, looking forward a couple of years, remember that Lawson will be more tightly integrated into the IBM products, notably Websphere Application Server, and Tivoli Directory Server. So, I would expect to see some integration with Lawson into the Tivoli monitoring products (
http://www.ibm.com/software/tivoli).

BMC's Patrol is very good, although expensive. The Lawson add-ons are not supported in 9.0 however.
Another product worth considering is Nagios, which I have found to be very useful.

I would agree with John on that. Several companies (including my employer) make custom scripts to monitor components in a particular Lawson installatiion. Components would include Lawson LID and web pieces, OS, database, networking, interfaces, logs, system messages etc.

I am not a NetIQ user, but it is my understanding that NetIQ was stronger in monitoring on a Windows platform than on Unix. BMC monitoring and Nagios are stronger on Unix than on Windows. I wouldn't pick a monitoring product based on a single application but hopefully use something that could be used accross multiple areas. If you have any of the products mentioned in this thread in your environment, I would use that one.

We're using a Microsoft product called What's Up (for windowz).
