Hello, I have a few questions about DB2 being the Lawson database:
0) to migrate from Oracle to DB2 for Lawson, are there documented steps or best practices? Or can one accomplish this using standard data migration tooling available outside Lawson. Recmmendations/experiences?
1) can we have multiple DB2 databases (or multiple instances) serving as the repositories underneath? or does Lawson "require"/enforce 1 database or 1 instance only?
2) has anyone used DB2's features like HA (high availability, with transparent failover), and things like database compression?
3) has anyone used DB2 DPF (parallel, shared nothing ) with Lawson?
4) How about Oracle RAC?
Thanks for your time, appreciate any insight !
Thanks

We paid Lawson to do this for us - converted from Oracle to DB2. Oracle has a free dowload client that was used, I have also seen IBM documentation for this on their site as well. We do not use any of the other features listed as the database is not so large ~ 50 Gb

Thanks Jeff, are you saying that the conversion is straight forward (table creation and data copy)? Are there other things involved like any transformation of data which might be needed..any other complexities like stored procs etc.
Thanks!

I did not do the conversion - (Lawson consultant), but my understanding is the oracle client will do the data conversions for you.
