    I am relatively new to Lawson.  Hopefully I am posting in the correct area.

    We are on Infor 9 and our Exchange server is currently down.  The Lawson flows are currently all still running.

    QUESTION:  Are the emails created by the flows stored in a folder from which they can be recovered and resent to the Exchange server when it comes back up (inbasket notifications, etc.?

      No.

      If your company employes an email intermediary client (check with your email/exchange group to see if they do), then the emails would be sent once your exchange is back on line. Here's how it works...flow sends an email thru intermediary client. if exchange is up, email is sent to the exchange and on to recipients; if exchange is down, intermediary holds emails unitl exchange connection is reestablished, then pushes all the emails to the recipients.

      a short term solution is you could restart/resume work units to generate the emails...HOWEVER, this depends on a number of factors (complexity of the flow, business logic, etc). Ex: you wouldn't want to kick a work unit to generate an email if the work unit is beyond that chunk of logic.

        If we are currently not using an email intermediary client between Lawson and Exchange, is it recommended to set one up?

        Is it difficult to do? Is there some documentation on how to do this?

          i guess it would depend on how many emails you expect to generate daily. One client I was at we generated 7000-10,000 ProcessFlow emails daily, so a break in email service wasn't good. If you don't generate many in a days, then it might not be worth the effort, but then you have to figure out how to deal with unsent emails.

          The client i've had experience with was either sendmail or connectmail...don't recall the exact name...but i'm sure you can google for the info. The basic setup is the ProcessFlow mail client points to "x" (the intermediary) and "x" points to your exchange server.
