I am doing a brand new installation of LSF 9.0.1.7 on a Windows 2003 R2 Virtual DEV server. It's been awhile and there are a couple of new things that I have't worked with, specifically the Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 redistributable package and the Unix Utilities for Microsoft Windows. I know the Unix Utilities replace the MKS toolkit. Is there anything special I should know before I do the installation? Also, what is the Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 redistributable package used for? Thanks in advance, and Happy Holidays!

1) If you are using Windows 2003 R2, you need the Visual C++ 2003 redistributable, not the 2008.
2) LUU replaces MKS, the LUU installation guide is quite straight forward. Just follow the steps.
Note: Why would you do it on Windows 2003? it's being decommission by Microsoft by Sept 2012. Then Lawson will no longer support it. May want to consider building the environment on Windows 2008 R2 x64.

Thank you for your response, Jimmy. We are installint 2003 because that is what PROD is. We want DEV to be the same as PROD for now, and we will upgrade it as we move closer to 2012.
The Lawson install guide says to use the Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 SP1 Redistributable package (x86) if you are using W2K3 32-bit, and (x64) if you are installing on 2K3 or 2K8 64-bit. Is that a typo in the guide or does that sound right?

I think you are right. 2008 x86 redistributable package for Win2003 R2 32bit.
