We are on LSF 9.0.1.9 and users on LS Security, but we've run into an issue in regards to PROCLEVEL and employee/manager security vs batch job security. All our employees have at least ESS access to Lawson, about 1 in 6 employees have more than just ESS access (Requesters, Approvers, Procurement, HR, Payroll, etc.).
Users are limited via ESS security to their own EMPLOYEE record process level via PROCLEVEL, and their own record via COMPEMP. Managers have access to their employees records via COMPEMP. HR/Payroll users are limited in HR/Payroll via PROCLEVEL and a custom element group HRPROCLVL (Company-HR, process-lev-HR). Other users (Financial, Procurement, etc.) are restricted via PROCLEVEL and PROCFINCOMP (Company).
The issue arises when employees transfer to another process level, or when a manager is managing employees at another process level than they themselves are in. Employees that transfer suddenly do not have access to the information from the previous process level (such as pay stubs). Managers don't have access to their employees at a different process level at all, even though in both cases COMPEMP has rules to allow it. PROCLEVEL always "vetoes" access.
So one solution could've been to eliminate the use of PROCLEVEL and only stick with custom groups, but then we run into issues with batch jobs, as they seem to only adhere to the PROCLEVEL element group. Also, I tried adding EMPLOYEE to the PROCLEVEL element group, but LS Security did not like this at all and started evaluating all PROCLEVEL rules as true.
Does anyone have any ideas on how to make it all work?
Also, I'd like to know how others have gotten around this issue.

You may want to explore using an attribute ProcessLevelControl within LS9 security to hold the process level which an employee may be allowed to use at any given time, more so for the power users rather than ESS/MSS-only users.

Thanks, that crossed my mind too, but it means opening access via PROCLEVEL, which opens up the batch jobs for access to those process levels also.
