We are currently working on implementing out system from 9 to 10. I have many users I am needing to assign roles to because in 9 most of our users were set up with no roles in LS, and inheriting security from a lawsoness ONLINE privileged user that was set up in LAUA.

I am going into the mass assignment tool and trying to add roles to all users such as the ESSrole. The mass assignment tool says that the operation completed successful, but when I go and look at any users in LSA tool there are no roles added to any of the users.

    Any thoughts??

Anyone have any input on this? Lawson support is not being the quickest on responding back to my question.

ok...I think it appears that the RM mass assign works only for people who have an Environment ID and not "everyone that is in LSA" ...wonder if there is a way to update those in LSA that do not need an environment ID since they all need roles though in order to use ESS.

Are you sure that our condition for "Define Criteria" is being met? You could try to set the criteria to ID = yourID to see if it assigns the Role value you have entered as a test. Then if that works use ID isNot = yourID to assign to everyone else. If there's an issue with mass assignment in your case, you could export users with ssoconfig for the xml format and then load the role for everyone with lsload.

ok, i keep trying and it appears that it is indeed working, but only in chunks of 100..

I have about 5000 people to do.

              Is this a setting somewhere?

                Hi Ronnie,
In the old days, Mass Assignment would blow up after 2,000 or so. You would keep running it over and over to get to the full volume.

Andrew Provines showed me this new "feature" you've found, where it now stops after 100 instead of 2,000.
So now we can only mass assign 100 at a time (ugh).

                Here's how to handle it:
                - In your selection criteria, put "is not" and enter the value for the Role you're adding.
                - Run it repeatedly.

This way, it keeps adding the Role to those who don't have it. It's a nuisance, but it's fast (run, check status, clear, run, check status, clear).

Hopefully somebody chimes in with the location of that setting!

                Regards,
                Dave

I would go with Brian Allen's suggestion of using ssoconfig. Probably would work much quicker.

                    Ok thanks,

Yeah I was used to it doing it in large chunks where I actually noticed it at first.  It took me a moment to notice it was only doing it in 100 chunks.

                    Thanks

If you have Process Automation you could also use that to create a flow to add the role.

The LDAP page size could be preventing the full update.  KB 1203121 has some info on increasing the page size.

Thanks, I was able to get it to work at 100 a go.

Ill look into the page size stuff if it becomes a concern.

                              Hi,

Mass assignment currently stops at 100 users (sucks). Infor has a defect ticket opened for this.
