I have a crystal report that is scheduled in LBI , exported to excel and emailed as an attachment to users. The problem is that the excel file cannot be sorted by the users because of meged cells. I beleive that if I could export using the export to excel data only the file could then be sorted but I don't see that option in LBI. Is there a way to do this?
Thanks

This response is based on LBI version 9-0-3-2-111 07.17.2009 16.19.03 CDT
In LBI, go to My Reports and click [Details] for the report. In the Report Options section in the left margin, click Output Options. The first control on the page is Default Output Type, set it to Microsoft Excel Data Only (XLD).
This works, with one hitch, the default name LBI offers for the workbook is (reportname).XLD. An XLD file is an Excel dialog, which I think this was the predecessor to VBA forms. My machine didn't have the file association set for them, once that's done, Excel will open it as if it's a normal workbook. It's not a big deal to set the file association, but the garden variety user may not know what to do. It might be better to have your automated process rename the file to an XLS if the report scheduling process permits it.

Thanks Mike. That will work if the report is run on demand but when you sschedule the report to run there is no XLD option for output only XLS which gives merged cells and the user can't sort the data.
Thanks

OK, I had not scheduled a report before. I just looked at the available output choices for scheduling, and CSV is available. Have you tried that? Excel will normally open a CSV without the need to set a file association.

The csv option works on a scheduled report that is emailed. It allows you to format the rows and columns in your excel output.
On output options you would have to specify csv ?
