We asked Lawson regarding options with having barcodes print on pick tickets and delivery tickets. To track orders as they are delivered to our end users/departments by our couriers. The only recommendation they had was to use RAD. This seems like a lot of set up and 'new process's'. Is anyone using RAD for internal deliveries? Or do you have a better method of tracking your internal deliveries you could share?

    Thank you!

I agree that RAD is the best option for Lawson. You could create your own tracking system, however. You could use Lawson Smart Reports to modify the print files to include bar codes but then you would still have to develop a system to track the pick/delivery tickets and you want to capture signatures.

Short answer, you can develop your own solution but since Lawson already has one built, why not use it?

Are you familiar with setting up/using RAD?

          Thanks

Yes, I have implemented RAD at several clients and it is being used widely in the Lawson world.

The set up looks extensive, once this is done, it the system easy to use and maintain??

                Sherri,

We are currently using MSCM to issue, pick, par count, receive and deliver orders/POs throughout the hospital and to our offsite locations. It was a 6 month project to implement it. It's not too difficult to maintain; keep locations in system up to date, people who need to access it with correct access, printer configurations for delivery tickets. We have had a number of system errors between MSCM and Lawson related to security and timeouts. Our biggest pain point has been the devices. We have 50 HHTs (handheld terminals) and have hit numerous repair issues with them. We honestly think that we got a shipment of lemons but of course they didn't begin to fail until well after the return date.

We've been live since December 2011. If you'd like more information - feel free to reach out. I'll be happy to discuss in detail.

                Michelle

I presented on our experiences with MSCM at Inforum in September - I've attached my powerpoint presentation here for anyone that wants to view it.

We are interested in using the RAD for delivery only and would like to ask you a few questions.

                        Thank you

                          Hi Michelle,

We are currently using handhelds in our facility, the only issue we are experiencing is when we do a hard reboot of the device. We are forced to go to the server and manually reinstall the applications. How does your company handle the reinstall of the applications?

                          Thanks,

                          Charles

If you save the CAB files to the /Application folder on the device you can easily do a reinstall without needing to connect to the server.

We don’t go to any server to reinstall MSCM or RAD or MPC. We manually install each one of the applications as a part of the MSCM installation on the handheld. We don’t have to reinstall anything unless we get a full wipe after we have sent it for repair.

When we install MSCM we have 4 different CAB files we run on the devices when installing. We keep these files on our internal network and also on personal flash drives so if we ever need to uninstall and reinstall MSCM, we would be able to do it quickly. We also use MyMobiler to more easily access files in the device itself.

                              CAB files:
                              PlatformDLL_Motorola
                              HHShell
                              MPC
                              RAD

Once all of those have been run in a specific order, MSCM should be up and running with MPC and RAD available within the app.
