We are beginning project planning for LSO.  Would anyone be willing to provide some feedback on the amount of resources assigned, the amount of hours allocated to the project, the project team make-up for the implementation, etc.?

    Thanks,
    Tina

      Hi Tina,
I can't offer any first hand info but I am looking for the same info. I received a reply on my earlier inquiry from Joe Boncha.

He said they set it up in a week with 2 working on it full time. No consulting help. Only on their test system. They used the flowchart and info from the install guide and had to use AR_5447727- Steps to install the Lawson Smart Office client for the first time
article to get the certificates working one the windows client PCs once they had .Net 4.0 installed

Our host provider set up our LSO server.  Took them about a week for a v9 install as they don't do it often.  Installs and upgrades of v10 are supposed to be much faster .. a day or less.

You are asking about server correct?  That was where my estimates came from above.

Client is easy enough network wide with via group policy.  There are a number of gotchas with LSO though .. #1 being it is a ClickOnce app so doesn't work with Windows roaming profiles.

Actually, I would like to have feedback on the project in its entirety. From the analyst development, security, etc. setup.

            Thanks,
            Tina

We had Lawson do the technical install of LSO. They quoted 3 days but it was up and running in about a day and a half. The biggest gotcha with the install was the Certificate. Our Info Security group had to generate the certfiicate several times to get it to work right. Once that was in place, it was not difficult. Jimmy mentioned the one of the big things on the PC is the OneClick technology from Microsoft. It doesn't work with roaming profiles, so please validate that before installing on the client PC. Also validate the PC specs, Lawson had some great info at Inforum about PC specs. The video card is key to performance. We had gone to new Windows 7, Office 2010 PC's due to some performance issues on the Win XP machines. We thought it was Memory related but after getting more information, I think it might have been more related to the Video Card.

The question about resources and timeframe for LSO really comes down to how you will roll it out. We are rolling out LSO and Mashup's department by department. That gives us the ability to control PC issues, business process changes related to LSO and Mashups, as well as the training. If you are going big bang, the training is the key component for you but you could see PC related slowness.

The other key to keep in mind is that DS forms can be linked to in LSO but if you want to recreate those, you must use LSO Scripting tool. Those could take some time to convert. You just need to determine how complex the changes are and estimate time to build each. That was another factor for the phased roll out.

Our goal is to have everyone addressed and rolled onto LSO in the next year with a move to Infor 10 next year this timeframe.

I am glad to answer more specific questions, feel free to reach out
