We just implemented Smart Office 10.1.1.0 and all of our users were given basic training and started with a blank canvas.  I wondered if there are pre built canvas templates available to give us a jump start at customizing and designing for areas such as Procurment, Finance, or Human Resources?  I work in Procurement, so I would be interested in what other users have designed around the purchasing function.  Thanks!

      Tom,
I haven't found any prebuilt canvas. What I see is that while each business is different there are some easy things you can do to add content to your canvas for users to quickly gain traction without spending alot of time building content.

For example, you can build a news reader for common business process like vendor adds to month end close. You can do this in an xml format or by using the widget designer. This would likely take you less than 30 min to build and deploy on your canvas. I have ESS/MSS news readers that I can share.

Since you are 10.1.1 you can also build some quick shortcuts using Startpad for things like links to Infor Xtreme, Job Schedule, Print manager, LSO log files that can make it easier to support.

You can also add some quick links to forms (PO20, PO30, IC11, etc) after you open the form, simply drag to your canvas or add a folder widget and drag them all into the folder.

We use mashup designer so when I roll a canvas out to a new area like you are doing, we give them a starter canvas. I save this and push it to the users. If you don't have mash up designer, take a look on the S3 technology blog, there is a couple mashups that are pre built that are Purchasing related. If you download those and install to your local LSO applications, this will give you some good content with little effort.

The Req to Check mashup that Josh built is fantastic.

If you have questions or want more examples let me know.

      Thanks

        Thank You Mark!

I haven't searched the S3 Technology blog.  I will take a look and report back.
If you are willing to share, I would be interested in your ESS/MSS news reader example.
Is the news reader the same as the widget called "Info Browser"? I am definately interested in examples or ideas of Info Browsers that others have created and found useful  In purchasing, Info Browsers with Highest paid customers, Highest value inventory on hand, Unreleased Purchase Orders, Low stock, etc..  Also anyList Driven forms that have created efficencies for users?

          EmployeeSelfService.xml

I attached the ESS.xml file. You can install this locally or on the server. If you use the widget designer tool you can open and publish straight from there. You will see these are easy to put together and can be used for anything from recreating bookmarks to business processes like month end or year end close.

Anything that points to a portal form or LBI, by including the net://auth?http:// command you will not have to have user sign in again.

I changed the name of the servers so once you plug your server name in this should be good to go.

          Hope that helps
