After reviewing the install guide for Landmark Technology (and IPA), I'm wondering how other people have set up the server architecture for Landmark if you are only going to use it for IPA (at this point). Did you install the Landmark runtime on the same server as your Lawson applications or on a separate server?
If you go with a separate server, can you just point IPA at a new Lawson application server when you upgrade to version 10 or would you need to set up another IPA server?
Any thoughts on how much memory Landmark and IPA consume? Is a separate server needed for Subversion?
Thanks for any insights you can share on IPA configuration,
Thad

Thad,
If you're running IPA, only, it is supported to run in LSF, and I have installed clients in that manner, *BUT*...
If your organization is even contemplating installing any other Landmark based application, such as RQC or LTM, then just go ahead and break it out into it's own server installation separate and distinct from LSF.
As for pointing, I assume you mean federating. That depends on if you're using ISS (Infor Security Services), of if you're doing a direct federation. From what I can see, ISS will be a bit harder, since it runs atop of LSF, and you'd essentially be cutting out the ISS hooks from Landmark, and attempting to rejoin a different ISS security domain (the version 10 one).
It should be much easier if you're doing a straight federate now, as undoing that in landmark, is a few commands at most.
As for SVN, you will not need an SVN install, if you're running IPA only, and I believe the requirement for SVN is being revisited within Infor, so it may be eliminated altogether in the near future. But if you're implementing a Landmark app (other than IPA) now, you will need SVN, and that will require a separate server if you're not running Landmark on Windows.
Hopefully this helps,
Kwane

The other aspect of "connecting" is in the configuration of IPA to point to an apps server/product line. That is done via configuration and doesn't require a new install.

Kwane, RQC runs on LSF not landmark.

LOL... Oops, I meant SS/Contract Management...Working with RQC right now, so it was on the brain.

I can see the value of setting up a new server for Landmark even though I'd just be running IPA at this point as a way to future proof against my organization suddenly wanting to implement a Landmark application.
I'm currently running LSF 9.0.1.12 on Windows 2008 R2 and also have LBI running DSSO. Since I'm still on 9.0.1 it looks like Landmark will need to be the primary authenicating system with federation to LSF. Kwane, when you talk about direct federation is this what you are refering to?
With LBI currently running DSSO, would I need to go to ISS with version 10 to keep single sign-on functionality?
Basically what I want to accomplish is to be able to re-use the Landmark run-time and LPA install when I move to v10 apps in the future. If that's not easily possible, I'd need to plan for reimplementing Landmark and IPA along with my version 10 upgrade project.

Try to keep it simple
because with v10, your server footprint essentially triples by adding landmark and sharepoint/workspace. If you're implementing IPA *prior* to moving to v10, use separate server. If you're implementing IPA in conjunction with move to LSF v10, and you have no other landmark apps, and the server horsepower, the putting LSF and Landmark on same server is OK. It will save some time in installing prerequisites, and allow for one workspace instance across LSF and landmark, etc.

Thought you can run landmark with IPA in same server as lawson core server it is not recommended. You do not want to stress your lsf core server running landmark, grid and lsf most cases give you performance issue.
Thanks

I have found these posts very helpful as we are attempting to plan both our move th IPA and the version 10 upgrade in the next 6-15 months. We may be leaning toward a single server solution and adding this change to version 10 instead of independantly.

If you don't use Landmark, how can you manage the flows? If I have a base v10 system that has Process Automation engine installed during the core, how can I manage the flows.
From what I understand, I can only manage the flows (admin, schedule, add or edit) via a tool for IPA. That requires the new Process designer tool that must have a Landmark because I need a Grid Server as the connection point.
So can I manage plows in LSF v10 without the tools related to Landmark?
Thanks for any information
